Opa!  Eat Greek at ‘The Shrimp's’

Five Course Wine Dinner

 

 


 Course 1:

Mezedes (the original tapas)

Dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), Spannakopita (spinach & feta phyllo pastries), Tzaziki (cucumber & yoghurt dip), Melitzanosalata (eggplant dip), Kalamari.

 

Sella & Mosca La Cala Vermentino - Sardinia, Italy

Pale gold in color with light green reflections and a delightful, floral aroma.

This crisp, dry white has youthful vitality and freshness.


Course 2:

Pipiries Yemistes

Bell peppers stuffed with fresh herb rice then baked until tender.

 

 Anselmi San Vincenzo - Veneto, Italy

Light straw color. Crisp and pure, with scents of minerals, apples, bananas and lemon blossoms.  Medium-bodied, dry and fresh, with notes of citrus fruit, pear, grapefruit and hints of hazelnut.


Course 3:

Xifias Marinatos

Swordfish steaks marinated with lemon, olive oil & Thyme.  Grilled and served with skordalia (garlic dip).     mmmm!

 

Planeta La Segreta Bianco - Southern Italy

50% Grecanico, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Viognier, 10% Fiano.  This has a Straw color with light greenish accents.

Lively, aromatic bouquet combining mineral scents with classic aromas of green citrus fruit, lime, peach and white melon. Fresh, supple and round on the palate, with good balance between fruit flavors and crisp acidity.


Course 4: 

Mousakas

Perfectly seasoned beef, layered with potato, eggplant and a trio of cheeses, topped with a creamy béchamel sauce and baked.

 

Feudi di San Gregorio Aglianico Rubrato - Southern Italy

Intense, crystalline rose color.  This wine flows from the glass with layers of dark fruit, smoke, tar and sweet toasted oak.   It is a pretty, soft-textured red with excellent depth in its fruit.  The nose scents of berries, from wild strawberries to raspberries and notes of cherry.  Sensation of freshness to the palate.  The finish brings to mind freshly-picked berries.


Course 5:

Apricot & Almond Cake

This is a light and extremely delicious tart with apricots and almonds.   Drizzled with an apricot preserve sauce with a hint of citrus.

 

Lunetta Prosecco - Northern Italy

Lunetta -- Little Moon -- Prosecco is produced in northern Italy’s Trentino region.  This stylish, delicately sparkling wine is fragrant, with enticing aromas of apple and peach.  A rich palate, refreshing and harmonious, with crisp fruit flavors and a clean finish.

Perfect to cut the sweetness of dessert!
