Georgia Shrimp Company Wine Dinner

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 - 7:00 p.m.

Perfectly Paired

 Five Course Wine Dinner

 Course 1:

Watermelon, Parma Ham & Feta Salad

A delicious, refreshing, chilled salad made with locally farmed watermelon, Parma Ham, Feta cheese and red onion drizzled with a balsamic glaze.

Fritz Russian River Sauvignon blanc

Aromas of white peach, grapefruit, sweet pea flowers and fresh sugar snap peas explode from the glass.  Flavors of Meyers lemon custard, citrus fruits and grapefruit are present on the palate, finishing with bright acidity.

Course 2:

Pork and Apple Wontons

Tender pork loin with sautéed apples, onions, garlic and a little ginger, topped with a ginger infused sweet chili sauce and served over summer greens.

Buena Vista Carneros Chardonnay

This 2007 Carneros Chardonnay shows aromas of sweet vanilla, mango and pineapple fruit against a creamy, toasty background.  In the mouth it shows intense apple, vibrant citrus, honeydew and pear notes through the creamy, subtly toasty finish.  It’s a classic example of Carneros Chardonnay.

Course 3:

Curried Cod-Fish Massala

Fresh ‘Hook & Line’ Icelandic Cod, lightly curried and served over yellow rice with desiccated coconut, bananas in milk, raisins, sambals and fruit chutney with a papadum to top it off.

Renwood Grand Pere

Petite Syrah complements the Barbera, Mourvedrè and Alicante to make for great blended complexity.  Great color, luscious berry fruit flavors, scents from the French Oak aging and firm chalky tannins round out this sensational wine.

Course 4:

Roast Beef

Succulent and flavorful Flap steak, grilled medium rare, topped with a three cheese cream sauce and crowns of broccoli.

 Mt Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon

The Aroma is concentrated with rich dark plum, blackberry fruit, tobacco and black pepper and sweet herb notes. Enticing complexity.  The Taste and Texture are well structured and balanced; the fruit character is rich and dense with generous well-knit tannins.  Big yet approachable, the dark blackberry and subtle spice notes weave into the body and texture to give a very complete palate and lingering finish.

Course 5:

Frangipani Tart

Baked fresh, with almond flour and youngberry jam this is a delightful sweet and light dessert. Served with mango sorbet this will harmonize beautifully with the Orange Muscat.

Renwood Orange Muscat

Orange Muscat has floral cascade of tropical aromas; honeysuckle, hibiscus, and orange blossom. The flavors are a luscious blend of melon, and papaya that are light on the tongue but full and lingering.  Although this Orange Muscat is a very sweet wine, it has balance and the sweet characters blend with a tangy tartness which results in a long and balanced finish.

 $49.95 per person
